You can search BDM contents with whatever Internet search engine you want.

The accuracy of your results will depend on how you formulate your queries.

Writing a query to search for BDM contents

  1. Select keywords in relation with the topic you search the BDM for.
  2. You can focus the BDM by adding BDM to your query as a keyword.
  3. Learn more with the help materials from your favorite search engines.

The embedded search engine in Insee's website

This personalized search engine is based on Google technology.
You can therefore submit your search in the same basic manner you would do with any regular Internet search engine.

However, thanks to its total integration to Insee.fr, it offers additional functions to the users of the site...

Personalized results

Search is limited to the only Insee's website, hosting the BDM.

A system of labels lets you filter your results by sections, e.g. the BDM.

You may need to try some sort of advanced search, by using specific operators along with your keywords, directly into the search box.

Quick exemples

  • Submitting the request "Business and services turnover"
    • will search for the very exact phrase written between quotation marks.

  • Submitting the request +business +turnover
    • will search for pages in which both the words business and turnover appear, grouped or not.

  • Submitting the request ~firm
    • will search for the word firm and its synonyms (business, company...).

  • Submitting the request ~firm -firm
    • will search for the synonyms of the word firm.
